Like many States that vented against Obama Care -- The Affordable Care Act, Florida Republican politicians joined the chorus of doubters and opponents of the plan to renounce the legislation because of the early website shortcomings the Government Health Care Marketplace site encountered. The opposition attempted to lay blame on the President and anyone associated with the plan, demanding that everyone involved be fired,.The right wing was pleased, certain that a total collapse of the healthcare marketplace would soon occur, even before it had a chance to take root.
The anti-Obamacare forces cited the incompetence of the administration and those they had put in charge of the rollout and early planning, and of course demanded HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services administrator Marilyn Tavenner, CMS project manager Henry Chao and other top IT be fired. But as time elapsed and the problems were fixed, the site seems to be working as planned while millions of Americans sign up for the plan.
Florida, predictably refused to go along with the Federal site and reluctantly agreed to set up their own site rather than partake in anything that smacked of President Obama. As a result the know it all redneck based Florida legislature decided to put their very own site into play and show the Democrats how well the Republicans could do with their own site.
Guess what? The best laid pans of the Florida right flopped miserably as hundreds of thousands of Floridians were unable to get online, let alone sign up for Florida's health care site. The site suffers problems comparable to those of the federal site, that was so thoroughly lambasted by Republicans. Officials claim that it may require at least another month or two of tuning. Duh!
After all the screaming and shouting, ranting and raving about the Obama administration's incompetence, is the Florida State site the best online medical insurance site that Governor Rick Scott and his band could come up with? Apparently so, because encouraging Floridians to sign up under the revised and vastly improved Federal site would be unthinkable.
This is the same governor who originally turned down 51 billion, that's billion with a b, in federal funds that would have gone to help over 800,000 uninsured Floridians in need of insurance. The governor has since rescinded his denial of funs, but the citizens are still awaiting the governor and the state legislature to move ahead with this option.
